What do you think of the Dowager? A rhyming review, and a box set

News & Musings from
Susanne Dunlap

Dear Reader,

Phew! Another launch under the belt. I'm so immensely grateful to everyone who made it to my informal Zoom launch, to those who came in person to celebrate the launch of the final book in my first Regency romance series, and to the bloggers and readers who have embraced the story so warmly.

I can't honestly say what my favorite comments have been, but I have to share a rhyming review from Splashes Into Books—one of the bloggers on my tour! I can't believe she goes to this trouble. It's a lot of fun for me and I hope for her.

A long lost love returns once more
Could romance be kindled as before?
But he needs help with his daughter's debut
What should Caroline, Dowager Marchioness of Lewiston, do?
With insights into events of those turbulent times
When arrests were made with no evidence of crimes
Where treason charges were hard to refute
And evil men used rules others would dispute.
A story involving family, romance and mystery
Set firmly in this period of history.
With more than one possible romance
Its a great read, I hope you'll give more than a chance!
There's political intrigue and danger, too,
There's so much for these characters to get through.
A thoroughly enjoyable, fascinating read
I hope you'll agree it is one you now need!
For my copy of this book I say a huge thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Note: Please do not feel you have to do something clever like that if you are moved to write a review, LOL! A brief note of what resonated for you is fine. Plus, you can also just leave a star rating if you're at a loss for words. As I know you know, those Amazon reviews and ratings are vital for getting the all-powerful algorithm to serve up one's books to potential readers. Here's a direct link to leave yours for The Dowager's Grand Triumph.

Now available: Double-Dilemma Romance Kindle Box Set

For anyone who likes to binge-read, I've created a Kindle Edition Box Set of the Double-Dilemma Romance Series! It includes all six books in order.

If you prefer hard copies, a physical box set is on its way. That takes a little longer to set up, however, and will—sadly—have a higher price tag. (The Kindle box set is just $8.99.)

Already read the entire series? Why not start another!

No, I don't have a new series out yet—I'm fast but not superhuman! (Although those who came to my Zoom event had a quick sneak peek at what's on the way in early 2027.)

What I'm talking about is a fabulous promotion for Historical Romance Series Starters! Take a look and see if anything appeals to you. There's quite a variety there.

In-person event for Western Mass locals

For those of you who live in the Pioneer Valley or near enough, I'm delighted to be participating in the second annual Books & Bottles book fair at Black Birch Vineyard on Thursday, July 9, 5–7 p.m. I'll have my books there to sell and sign, but more than that, I'll be in company with a fabulous group of authors from my old stomping ground.

I hope to see some familiar faces there!

That's all for now. If you're in the UK or Europe, please take care of yourselves in the intense heat. Hydrate, stay indoors, wear loose clothes. And we're set to have a taste of that unpleasant summer swelter here too, but air conditioning is much more common in the U.S.

Until next time, happy reading and writing!

Susanne

P.S. Don't forget that in addition to being an author, I'm a book coach and editor. If you want some focused help with a knotty problem in your manuscript, consider booking a Manuscript Momentum session with me. More information here.

News & Musings from Susanne Dunlap Dear Reader, How did summer suddenly become such a busy time of year? At the moment I think France has the right idea by shutting down for most of August. I have to admire them for their priorities. 😊 Of course, I can't blame anyone but myself for everything that's cluttering up my calendar these days. When you work for yourself, you set your own deadlines. Glutton for punishment here... Big deadline looms: 6 weeks until Kickstarter! As I've said,...

News & Musings from Susanne Dunlap Dear Reader, Last week I told you I finished the first draft of Dangerous Drusilla (Book 1 in the forthcoming series, The Pinkstocking Club) and started editing it (a process I love). But as often happens with pantsers and plantsers (for those of you who aren't familiar with those terms, a pantser writes by the seat of their pants, i.e. without outlining, and a plantser does the same but with a little more advance planning) the process spawned an idea that I...

Dangerous Drusilla, book one of The Pinkstocking Club. A new Regency adventure-romance series

News & Musings from Susanne Dunlap Dear Reader, My first week back from Albuquerque has been very, very busy. Catching up on client work, speaking with potential new writers to coach, figuring out how to do that essential but draining marketing—and finishing the first draft of Dangerous Drusilla, the first book in The Pinkstocking Club series. That is what I don't think you'll believe, because, as I said, I sort of don't either. After some sludgy moments where I had a hard time figuring out...
