The ton has put her on the shelf. But the next Pinkstocking heroine has an ace up her sleeve!

Dear Reader,

I promised a big reveal when my Kickstarter was fully funded—it is! And now another milestone has been reached: The Dangerous Drusilla Kickstarter is funded at over $2,000!

I'm overwhelmed at the support the project has received. I've already got Kristen (my illustrator) hard at work on the Kickstarter hardcover edition dust jacket, and the collectible enamel pins are just about to go into production.

But enough of that! Over on the Kickstarter page I have introduced the heroine of the next book in the Pinkstocking Club series. She's one Lady Cordelia Streatham, and the title of book 2 is Canny Cordelia: A Delightfully Devious Regency Spy Romance.

Here's a little about Cordelia and her forthcoming story:

The world of the Pinkstocking Club is getting more and more complicated. And complicated is right up Cordelia's alley, because she has a fiendishly acute mind for numbers.

  • Her predicament: Three Seasons on the marriage mart, and the ton has effectively put her on the shelf.
  • Her unexpected talents: Mathematics, probability, deciphering riddles, and a remarkable ability to win at cards.
  • Her opportunity: The Pinkstocking Club assigns her to investigate a gambling scheme with decidedly suspicious implications.
  • Her romantic complication: She must deal with a certain gentleman who may prove considerably harder to manage than a deck of cards. No name, of course!

Want to see Kristen's gorgeous illustration? Head over to the Kickstarter page!

If you're following the campaign, you got an update earlier this morning in which I shared that illustration. If not, scroll down on the Kickstarter campaign page until you get to the fourth milestone reveal, and you'll see Cordelia in all her glory.

And while you're there, check out the rewards while you have a chance to get them—the campaign ends in about 24 hours. You can back it at as little as $15 and receive a pre-publication ebook of Dangerous Drusilla.

In the meantime, I'm back to obsessively refreshing the page ...

Next week: we return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Keep reading and writing!

Dear Reader, I teach most of my workshops on Zoom these days, which has benefits and drawbacks. The benefit is that readers and writers from all over the world can attend. The drawback is that you're not physically in the same room as everyone, and that creates a different dynamic. So I'm thrilled to be giving two in-person workshops in the coming weeks. Dear Reader, You may already know that my Kickstarter is now fully funded—that doesn't mean it's over, it only means that I've been backed to the amount of my goal. Anyone can still back the project and choose any available reward tier until the campaign closes. The campaign runs until about noon Eastern on October 22. What it also mean is that all the goodies I promised as rewards have to be made! LOL! I didn't overload the campaign with swag because of that, but there are two important...

The cover of my next book, Dangerous Drusilla

Dear Reader, Today at noon, my Kickstarter campaign goes live. I've been working toward this day for months—a rhythm I'm familiar with from launching my books. What is bizarre to me is that this isn't a book launch day. It's a day when I'm launching the promise of a book and a new series—which is quite a novel idea (pun intended). Of course, the book exists already. It will be published as scheduled on January 5, and Kickstarter backers will get pre-publication editions if the campaign funds....
